Academic Life
From first-year seminars to senior comprehensive exams, Bethany prepares its students for future tasks and achievements such as the challenges of graduate study. Learning at Bethany often takes place outside of the traditional classroom setting through independent study, informal interaction with faculty, off-campus internships, and study abroad.
Campus Life
Bethany has an incredibly active and involved student body. There are over 40 clubs and organizations, 18 varsity sports, fraternities and sororities, and many other opportunities. There are two campus-wide organizations, Student Activities Council and the Student Government Association in which our students take active leadership roles.
Facilities and Resources
Bethany’s stately campus is comprised of National Historic Landmarks featuring the characteristics of Gothic architecture. The campus’ 14 residence halls offer traditional, cube, and apartment-style living. The modern recreation and athletic center includes a 25-meter indoor pool, indoor track, weight room, aerobics studio, and basketball and racquetball courts. The multi-million dollar Peace Point Equestrian Center provides 125 stalls, indoor and outdoor arenas, and miles of trails.
Athletics / Sports
Bethany College is a member of the Division III NCAA and the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Varsity women’s and men’s teams participate in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Men’s teams compete in baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, and indoor and outdoor track. Women’s teams compete in basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball, and indoor and outdoor track. Bethany also has an extensive intramural program and a variety of club sports for men and women.
Financial Aid / Tuition
Bethany College is committed to providing an affordable, yet competitively priced private education for all qualified students. To this end, beginning for the Class of 2006, Bethany is committed to fulfilling 100 percent of student financial need. In addition, the College also awards merit scholarships based upon academic criteria. All need-based aid is awarded in accordance with FAFSA results. Financial aid awards may consist of loans, grants, scholarships, and student employment.
Admission
The College seeks students who have prepared themselves for a liberal arts curriculum by taking at least 15 units of college-preparatory work. Application for admission requires submission of the following: a completed application form, a high school transcript, and scores from the SAT or the ACT. Students are also invited to add personal essays and/or letters of recommendation to their admission file. The College adheres to a rolling admissions policy.
