Academic Life
With nearly 50 undergraduate programs, Palm Beach Atlantic likely has a major to interest you. Undergraduate academic schools include Arts and Sciences, Communication and Media, Education and Behavioral Studies, Ministry, Music & Fine Arts, Nursing, the Rinker School of Business and the Gregory School of Pharmacy. If a graduate degree is your plan, stay at PBA and complete your master’s degree in business administration, leadership or counseling psychology. The University also offers a highly respected professional degree program in pharmacy.
Open to students from all majors, the Supper Honors program provides you with a distinctive curriculum that encourages intellectual contemplation and discussion. Supper Honors students are known as campus leaders who promote the “life of the mind” on campus by hosting guest speakers and informal discussions.
Campus Life
The Palm Beach Atlantic community is full of energy and options for you to learn more about the world and your place in it. With 1,000 students living on campus, there is always someone to join you in a study group, intramural competition, coffee house or residence hall Bible study. Play or cheer for one of PBA’s 12 varsity sports that compete in the NCAA’s Division II.
If the arts and culture interest you, there are limitless opportunities on and off campus. The University’s presents 90 student choral and instrumental music, dance, theater and art shows each academic year.
West Palm Beach and the South Florida area offer concerts, professional sports and museums as well as shopping, restaurants and opportunities for part-time jobs and internships.
Facilities and Resources
Palm Beach Atlantic offers first-rate, modern facilities on a 27-acre campus in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida, directly across the Intracoastal Waterway from Palm Beach and only minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. PBA’s urban location puts beaches, restaurants and shopping within easy walking or bicycling distance. With the temperature usually in the 70s or 80s, students enjoy outdoor activities year-round.
The striking Warren Library and the DeSantis Family Chapel form the heart of the campus. With the library as academic hub featuring areas for group study, research and fellowship over coffee in the Einstein Bros. Bagels, the Chapel is PBA’s home base for weekly chapel events, concerts and lectures.
PBA’s latest building project is the 76-acre Rinker Athletic Campus, which will be home to outdoor varsity competition and student recreation.
Athletics / Sports
Palm Beach Atlantic competes as a member of the Division II NCAA in men’s and women’s basketball, golf and soccer; baseball; softball; and women’s volleyball and cross country. In order to compete, Palm Beach Atlantic University student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher; and 12 credit hours per semester (24/year) of which up to six credit hours can be made up in the summertime. All transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher to be eligible to transfer to PBA; and must have 12 transferable degree credits for each of the previous full-time semesters they have attended in other institutions.
Financial Aid / Tuition
With so much to offer, you may wonder how Palm Beach Atlantic remains affordable. The financial aid staff works closely with families on their particular circumstances resulting in about 97 percent of undergraduate students receiving some form of tuition assistance.
Recently, the University developed a new tool to help you discover the scholarships and other types of aid for which you quality. The online True Cost Calculator can show you an estimated comprehensive award package including institutional, federal and state aid. You can learn more about PBA’s institutional scholarships including the President’s, Provost’s and Deans’ scholarships as well as the Achievement and Sailfish awards.
The financial aid staff takes part in campus open house events and other activities for prospective students. They can answer your questions and guide you through the process of applying for aid.
Admission
Applying for admission is quick and easy. Apply online and be prepared to supply your official high school transcript, standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) and your personal essay. PBA uses a system of rolling admission, which means that you generally will receive a decision within two weeks after completing your application and supplying your documents.
Though not required, we suggest you visit us on campus to learn more about what PBA has to offer you. We have four open house dates per year with a program of activities and an option to spend the night hosted by a current student. Plan your visit for one of our special visit days when we focus on pre-health, communication and media, music and fine arts, math and the sciences, or education majors.
Other Cool Facts
Beyond academic achievement, PBA graduates are sought after by employers for their character, which is formed through discipleship and community worship. The University’s weekly chapels are part of this formation along with Bible studies in residence halls and student-led praise held each Thursday evening where student encourage one another. Workship, the University’s community services program, is the outpouring of this faith through helping others in need. These experience and others are the ways that Palm Beach Atlantic instills moral teachings and values into the lives of students.
